UPES – University of Petroleum and Energy Studies

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, established in 2003, is located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The university is NAAC accredited with an ‘A’ grade and has earned national recognition through NIRF 2025 rankings, securing 43rd position for B.Tech and 36th position for MBA programs.

UPES Dehradun offers a wide range of full-time and part-time undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes across Engineering, Science, Technology, Design, Law, and Management disciplines. Some of the most sought-after courses at UPES include B.Tech, B.Des, and MBA. The first-year fee for B.Tech programmes starts at approximately INR 2,82,000, depending on the specialization.

Admissions at UPES are conducted through multiple national- and university-level entrance examinations. Candidates are shortlisted based on JEE Main or UPES-specific tests such as UPESEAT, ULSAT, UPESMET-UG, UPESDAT, UPESMET, and UPESPAT, as well as national exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, CUET, and UGAT, followed by counselling and/or personal interviews. For the 2024 admission cycle, the CAT cutoff for the General category was 50, while the MAT cutoff stood at 70, and the XAT cutoff was 50.

As per the ongoing placement statistics for 2025, UPES Dehradun recorded a highest package of INR 52 LPA, with an average package of around INR 9 LPA.
