The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims will be held at multiple test centres across India. Candidates should note that appearing for the DAT Prelims or qualifying for the next stage of the admission process does not automatically ensure admission.

NID – National Institute of Design

NID (National Institute of Design) is India’s premier institute for design education and research. Established in 1961, NID functions as an Institution of National Importance under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. NID is widely recognized for its excellence in design education across disciplines such as industrial design, communication design, and textile & apparel design. Its flagship programs, B.Des and M.Des, are among the most sought-after design courses in the country.

NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Haryana, NID Madhya Pradesh & NID Assam are independent autonomous institutes under the DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India and offer four-year full-time Bachelor in Design (B.Des.)

Admissions to all the programmes at NID is based on the candidates’ performance in the two-stages of Design Aptitude Tests viz. DAT Prelims & DAT Mains. The objective of these exams is to assess the knowledge, skills and behavioural abilities of the candidates.

Available Courses

Undergraduate Programmes

• B.Des (Bachelor of Design)
  Specialisations include Communication Design, Industrial Design, Textile & Apparel Design, among others.

Postgraduate Programmes

• M.Des (Master of Design) across multiple design domains.

Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims will be conducted at various test centres across India. Candidates should note that appearing for the DAT Prelims or being shortlisted for the second stage of the admission process does NOT guarantee automatic entitlement to admission.

Candidates shortlisted after the DAT Prelims will be invited to appear for the Stage 2 DAT Mains. Exact details of the Test Centre will be announced later in the DAT Mains Admit Card.
