The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), also known as IIT Mumbai, is an autonomous public institute established in 1958. It is one of the most preferred IITs among top JEE (Advanced) rank holders, largely due to its excellent career opportunities and its strategic location in Mumbai, India’s financial hub. According to NIRF 2025, IIT Bombay is ranked 3rd in the B.Tech category, while Collegedunia Rankings have placed it 1st for B.Tech programs.
B.Tech is among the most popular programs offered at IIT Bombay. Admission to the program is based on JEE Advanced scores, followed by JoSAA counselling. For the General Category, the Round 1 JEE Advanced cutoff ranks for 2025 ranged between 66 and 4696.
As per the latest IIT Bombay placement statistics, the average package stood at INR 23.5 LPA. Notably, 22 students received offers exceeding INR 1 crore per annum. A total of 388 companies participated in the placement drive, including several Fortune 500 companies.
